Invest time in this and you will gain a clearer vision of where to go with your nursing career. Your training and experience as a registered nurse has taught you hard work and preserverence. Add an independent spirit and a strong sense of purpose and you can carve out the future of nursing.
The nursing shortage has highlighted the importance of qualified professional nurses. As our nation's health care needs escalate, so does the demand for registered nurses that can provide and coordinate care for the multitude of health issues. Nurses are leaving the profession due to burn-out, family and personal needs and a lack of independence. To add to the problem, as baby-boomer nurses age they are finding full time shift work difficult to maintain.
Traditional nursing careers are inadquate for todays needs. Opportunities abound for each of us to expand our nursing profession. We need to emcompass emerging technologies and out-of-the-box thinking to create solutions to an overburdened health care system.
Society today seeks information and solutions to both common and complex health issues. The average health care consumer has more information available than they can accuretely process. Nurses can intrepert and present health care information in an easy to understand and relevant manner. We are already skilled at patient education, system assessment and implementation.
